Anthropocene Mixtape: Owl Edition
A Sonic Exploration of Lost Abundance
As 60-90% of Owl populations have declined since 1970, I wondered, what would 90% more owls sound like? What if our urgent stories about climate change were shared as immersive soundscapes expanding the field of Acoustic Ecology? My answer is a sonic reconstruction of this lost abundance, an Anthropocene Mixtape Series to explore imagined futures with a portal to the past.

Listen
Listen to a reimagined nocturnal sound-scape with a parliament of shadows representing the lost population of Michigan owls flying overhead (headphones encouraged).
Reminiscent of a full moon walk along the shores of Lake Michigan, the sound file is derived from field recorded owl files arranged in a midnight song. |
