Food Forest
Prosperity Forest Pilot: What does an abundant and generous backyard look like? We are transforming a wooded 1-acre with regenerative methods to increase biodiversity, carbon sinks, rain catchments, and native habitats. Our goal is an abundant and generous food forest, re-matriation do-tank, and nature-based futures lab in West Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan. Founded 2021, we are working with the natural systems and planting natives as a micro-initiative for climate action at the neighborhood scale for a regenerative future. This initiative is part of a larger research context for micro-homesteads (1-1000 acres) to participate in carbon sinks and biodiversity credits as well as green energy programs. GOALS:
• Eliminate invasive species • Plant food forest • Soil: Construct hugalkultures • Water: Construct rain garden and catchment • Plant 35% of 1 acre as pollinator gardens • Host workshops |

Presentations & Workshop Series
Prosperity Forest programming for a regenerative future!
This presentation and workshop series prompts participants to ask how we can design for generosity in our own backyards. Located in the West Michigan Area we inspire regenerative practices at a neighborhood scale towards a more resilient community by making the links between pollinators and climate actions. Starting small, with a spec of pollen, we are supporting our pollinators by expanding from micro-habitats to global climate goals. The series delivers science-based information about pollinators and the native habitats with fun facts about butterflies, bees, bats, and birds. We provide practical resources of regional keystone plants for each pollinator and inspire participants with local, State, and National resources. These engaging presentations are a great addition to your local seasonal programming. We also offer workshops to support each topic to deepen the understanding of the material like Backyard Foraging, 3D printed native bee hotels, examples of bat houses, and creative butterfly water stations! Interested in a Bat presentation for October, 2024? Get in touch, we would love to hear from you! GOALS: • Showcase the essential role which pollinators play in a thriving ecosystem. • Support the broader impact of projects, such as the pollinator paradise garden, to increase community resilience. • Contribute to a neighborhood-scale Climate Action Plan for our communities. • Workshops provide practical ways to improve your habitats and reduce biodiversity loss. |
